Purpose Over Power
Untangling personal gain from divine placement to achieve true impact.
I don't know if this is an African thing or just a human character default.
Whenever God puts you in a position of authority or gives you access to power and influence, even if that platform has the capacity to help and elevate you, it is ultimately not meant for personal gain. The reason I am saying this is deep, but I'll leave that for another post.
Imagine if Joseph had seen the opportunity to rescue the world from famine as a mere avenue to enrich himself and hoard resources. Just take a moment to imagine that; the world would have died of hunger because of his personal interest and greed for gain. Many people are not like Joseph, who saw the bigger picture. If he had been chasing his own agenda within God's divine layout, it would have completely derailed the plan to bring Israel to Egypt.
Now listen: many people have ruined the great things God wanted to do through them because they began to pursue their own agendas inside of His plan. It is so sad that many do not even realize this.
God doesn't give you access to power for yourself; it is always for a greater purpose. Until people begin to realize that what God has given them is not actually about them, the world will not experience the kind of liberation it truly needs.
